Dear Pastor & Church: June, 2011

Spain is blessed in many ways - we don’t have hurricanes or tornados etc. We did have a pretty heavy earthquake this past month down in southern Spain, but it is very unusual. However, we have had more rain and thunderstorms than we can ever remember during the 39 years we have been here - they are saying it was the wettest Spring since 1914! Cleanup work has fallen behind at the camp property because of the mud. We are praying for some Spanish sun to dry things out so work can continue. Our first camp begins on July 4th.

Things continue to go well for Carolyn and her dialysis treatments. This week she had to go in an extra day to have some special blood tests made. These were sent to one of the main Spanish hospitals in Madrid to start a permanent record for her. This would be the hospital where an eventual transplant would take place. The doctors are still waiting for her to regain more strength before removing one of her kidneys to make room for the transplant. This probably won’t happen until summer is over.

Please keep her in your prayers - they are so vital. We are looking forward to the visit of our grandkids, Eric and Amanda Shadle, who are missionaries in Ethiopia. And of course the great-grandkids too. We have not seen them in over three years. Our hearts rejoice that our family is all involved in full-time service for the Lord. What more could we ask?.

The total price for the new well pump came to a little over $9,400. This was a totally unexpected expense. It is working fine but really drained our budget. We are going ahead with changing the asbestos roofs on the remaining two cabins plus the porch area. This is totally by faith that the Lord will provide the funds. We have been amazed how the Spanish churches as well as various individuals have sacrificially given to see this happen. If you would like to send a special offering, just mark it “camp” and we will put it to good use.

Your concern for us and the work in Spain is one of the things that keep us pushing on. Thank you so much for all you do.
